Lisa Jonas is a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and a senior compliance and governance executive with extensive experience advising senior executives, governing bodies, and regulators at several of the world’s leading financial institutions.
Her career includes eight years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where she handled civil and criminal matters on behalf of the United States, including serving on the prosecution team in United States v. Mason Tenders, a complex public corruption and racketeering case involving a New York City labor union. During her tenure, she received the U.S. Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance.
Ms. Jonas has extensive international experience advising on financial crime, anti-bribery and corruption, and cross-border regulatory risk. Most recently, she served as Executive Director, Head of Americas Anti-Bribery & Corruption and Head of Americas Government Relations Compliance at UBS, where she advised senior business leaders on anti-bribery, corruption, political activities, and regulatory risk across all business divisions in the Americas. She also represented UBS in Europol’s Financial Institutions Innovation Lab on Human Trafficking, collaborating with international law enforcement, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to combat human trafficking and related financial crime.
Previously, Ms. Jonas held compliance and governance leadership roles at Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, where she advised on regulatory policy, governance, anti-bribery and corruption, and conduct risk across global businesses.
Ms. Jonas earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and a Juris Doctor from Touro Law School. She has completed advanced professional coursework through the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) in anti-money laundering regulation, sanctions, and transaction monitoring and is currently completing the Wharton School’s AI for Business program.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Jonas has dedicated significant time to public service and advocacy. She has worked with organizations including Rights4Girls, Sanctuary for Families, and the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition, supporting efforts to combat human trafficking and violence against women.
